It all began at the open mic nights held at the 8th Ave Tavern in good ol' Durango, Co. Sam and Kate were the original two members after many a drunken night playing just for the sake of playing. Whiskey always being the drink of choice, and Kentucky being the original home of Sam, the name was decided upon - thanks to a $5 handle of Kentucky Deluxe, some of the cheapest (and worst tasting) whiske...y you'll ever find... the two played on the street and in the tavern, quickly hijacking other musicians from other bands that complimented the sound quite beautifully. What grew became nothing more than a huge cluster of talented artists that love to get down and have the time of their lives... the family of K.D.
