Durango Nature Studies announces its winter Volunteer Naturalist Training for its Surviving and Thriving in Winter School Program: January 19, 6:00-8:30 pm, January 20, 8:30 am-4:00 pm.
Become a fully qualified volunteer naturalist, ready to lead science-based, snowshe hikes for kids in 3rd through 8th grades on topics such snow science and winter animal adaptations. Volunteers will receive a detailed manual as part of the training. Walks take place at our winter site at Haviland Lake.
No prior experience is necessary, just a love of nature and kids! Becoming a volunteer naturalist is a great way to spend time outdoors, learn the natural history of the area, meet like-minded people, and gain experience teaching.
