Wed, September 21, 2016
3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
This is a hand’s on workshop class for photographers of all levels wanting to explore new ways to see, and to create images that go beyond the documentary and speak to the moments of our direct experience. Working in the field immersed in cool gardens and dappled sunlight among flowers and orchards, students will be invited to practice simple mindfulness techniques and taught how to apply them to their own processes of creative expression. Students will be introduced to the concept of “beginner’s mind†and how to rest in this state of open awareness; students will be encouraged to play with the capabilities of their camera’s and the possibilities that arise in their own imaginations. Camera Techniques and “how to do that†approaches will be demonstrated. There will be group discussions; one-one hands on interactions, philosophical conversations, and ad end of class show and tell of our created imagery….oh and there will be plenty of shade.
We will spend our time immersed in the gardens and flowers at Blue Lake Ranch, rain or shine. Students are encouraged to carpool as parking is limited. Blue Lake and Master Gardener Dawn have spectacular flowers blooming into the late autumn months. There will be a facility fee for each student to access amenities at BLR.
