Seed Saving Basics: Cultivating Community Resilience
Wed, September 21, 2016
5:30 PM - 7:30 AM
Explore the value of saving seed through a bioÂcultural lense with brief group discussion regarding the GMO concerns and collective seed stewardship. This course will further cover seed saving basics for the three major plant families most commonly found in our gardens: Brassicas, Solanaceaes, Legumes, and a few common, regionally grown crops such as corn and amaranth in our region. We will cover quality discernment for seed, harvest and storage techniques for viability, regional seed resources, and garden planning for seed saving.
