Introduction to Mindful Living
Wed, October 5, 2016
6:00 PM
This course will offer the basics of mindful living. This will include different meditation practices, the basic philosophy of living mindfully, and techniques on how to carry the practice through your day to day life. I will use a mixture of mindfulness practices including the Plum Village tradition established by Tich Nhat Hanh, Vipassana, Tibetan and Shambhala Buddhism, and MBSR. Erin is not teaching under one tradition but rather with a broad view of what all mindfulness practices share and what creates the foundation of the philosophy.
Each session will be different. There will be talks on mindfulness philosophy, group discussions, various meditations, and explanations on how to live mindfully day to day. The different types of meditations that may be included are:
•walking meditation
•mindful eating
•mindful communication
•sitting meditation
•mindful movements
•total relaxation
•visualization
•singing meditation
•guided meditation
•daily mantras
•touching the earth
•hugging meditation
•story telling
Students will need to bring either a yoga mat or a blanket and a cushion to sit on.
