Beginning Italian Language
Mon, January 16, 2017
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
We will work to establish a good foundation for using the Italian language—reading, speaking, and singing along with really fun Italian music. We will place strong emphasis on pronunciation and (yes, even that!) basic grammar. At the end of the course one should feel confident about getting off a plane in Italy, checking into a hotel, and ordering food on the street or in a restaurant. The course will consist of class recitation through reading and repetition. We will work with, Italian in 10 Minutes a Day, ISBN 978-1-931873-06, a book of language fundamentals, and Easy Italian Reader, by Riccarda Saggese, ISBN 0071439579. This course is designed for beginning students as well as students who would like to refresh their abilities with the language. Paul Boyer is a photographer who leads annual photographic tours to Italy. He enjoys teaching Italian because he believes that language skills open doors that cannot be opened any other way. Plus he thinks that speaking Italian is so much fun that everyone should do it. He has taught Italian classes at various times from 1974, to the present, and he taught courses through the Continuing Education program at Fort Lewis College for seven years.
Students who wish to also attend the Italian Reading and Discussion class in full may do so at the full price OR a pay a drop in class price of $15 per session up to 4 classes.
