We’ll delve into Chinese history through the lens of language, exploring connections between written and spoken Chinese along the way. Through a variety of multimedia and online tools, fun, engaging games and interactive activities, students will learn to recognize and write commonly occurring characters, conduct a simple conversation with another person, recite poetry, sing pop songs, and navigate practical day-to-day situations like shopping, ordering food, and hailing a taxi. The class will also include cultural activities based on student interest: tai chi, tea preparation, food, and film are all options we can consider.
