DESCRIPTION
In this forum, participants will explore the social and ethical implications of genetically modifying the mosquito to reduce malaria infections across the world, and more specifically in third world countries. Local Professor, Steve Fenster, PhD, will be giving a brief talk beforehand about this complex issue. Afterwards, participants will work together to create a multifaceted solution to this complex issue- and enjoy local brews! Forum materials come from a science kit distributed as a public education initiative by NISE (National Informal Science Education) about synthetic biology. Visit http://buildingwithbiology.org/ for more details. We look forward to seeing you!
