Join the Durango Arts Center for the opening reception of EXPLORATION BEYOND TRADITIONS: Contemporary Native American Artists Invitational. When the public thinks of Native art they are most likely thinking of the traditional sense of art making. EXPLORATION BEYOND TRADITION explores how Native artists are evolving and pushing boundaries in their artistic process. Curated by local artist Michael Billie and featuring the dynamic work of nationally renowned artists: Tony Abeyta, Neal Ambrose-Smith, Michael Billie, Sally Black, Teri Greeves, Gloria Emerson, Shan Goshorn, Aaron Kiyanni, Gilmore Scott, Preston Singeltary, Roxanne Swentzell and Baje Whitethorne, among others. EXPLORATION BEYOND TRADITION will be on display until June 17, 2017 in the Barbara Conrad Gallery at DAC.
