The Durango Arts Center, together with the Englehart Family Trust, is excited to present The Women, a solo exhibition of work – never before shown as a cohesive body in a single show – by legendary artist Stanton Englehart (1931-2009). As a well-known faculty member at the Fort Lewis College Department of Art & Design, and highly successful professional artist, Englehart’s mixed-media works will bring the academic and fine arts community together in a show of mutual environmental concern. In light of current political and social change, Englehart’s work that will be on display is as timely as it was when he created it in the 1960s, posing the question, “How will our choices today dramatically affect our planet tomorrow; and as the work still holds a poignant place to today, what if any reforms have occurred?”
