Pirates of Penzance, a two-act classic comedy is full of patter songs and laughter. It tells the story of Frederic, an orphan who was mistakenly apprenticed to a band of pirates. Just as he begins his solo journey he meets the beautiful harmonious Mabel, and they instantaneously fall in love. But trouble awaits all.
The cast includes FLC students Holden Grace, Johanna Laverty, Jonathan Patton, and Austin Minard in the lead roles with two special guest actors from the community, Hattie Miller and Gordon Thomas. Director, Dennis Elkins takes the classic 1879 play and brings his vision of art to capture and entertain an audience of all ages. Elkins states, 'As a true collaborative process, Pirates brings together the talents of so many individuals from across the campus, and in our case, the Durango community. It creates such a remarkable event unequaled to anywhere in town. Folks can’t dare to miss this one!!!'
