Sourcing, Roasting, and Brewing the Best Coffee You've Ever Had

Are you a regular coffee drinker? Ever wanted to up your coffee game but not sure how to start? If you’ve ever had a cup of coffee in a cafe and wondered how you could make something that delicious at home, this is the course for you. It’s not only possible to roast and brew excellent coffee at home; it can even be more affordable than the alternative! We’ll delve into the world’s major coffee growing regions and their signature flavor profiles, discuss responsible sourcing, and do a step-by-step walkthrough of the process required to turn a green coffee bean into a truly first-rate cup of coffee. We’ll look at simple and more elaborate roasting techniques that anyone can try at home, talk about the important distinction between blade and burr grinders, and look at the benefits and drawbacks of a variety of brewing methods. Along the way, we’ll sample the flavor characteristics of different types of roasts, learn about the importance of freshness in all parts of the coffee process, and have the chance to try some samples of coffees from around the world. Students will be given a packet with supplementary information and suggestions for roasting, grinding, and brewing equipment for any budget.
