DESCRIPTION
This course will introduce students to the JavaScript programming language. Javascript is the lingua franca of the world-wide-web and was invented by Brendan Eich on the behalf of NetScape back in the mide1990’s to support more dynamic web content. It’s classic application is the manipulation of web pages dynamically inside your browser. But JavaScript has gone far beyond the initial use cases and is now used widely to power server-side applications using technologies like NodeJS. Learning JavaScript as a foundation for programming opens a world of opportunities to become a “full-stack” developer since JavaScript is so ubiquitous and widely used in all aspects of web application development. You can’t go wrong learning JavaScript. This class will utilize the standard called ECMAScript 6 as the basis for teaching the course.

This course is designated as Learning Level 0 (LL0) and is appropriate for all levels of experience computer users and nothing is expected other than knowledge and experience with basic personal computing. The course is geared toward people with little or no experience programming. Touch typing skills are very beneficial as much of the course the student will be creating small programs by typing into an editor.

Hardware will be provided for the student to use during the course.
