Love the Outdoors? Write it
Sun, July 16, 2017
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
We Coloradoans love the outdoors – camping, fishing, burning our feet on the great Sand Dunes or wandering by the river. Feeling deeply connected to places often warrants expression; many nature-lovers seek a way to communicate their ideas/bonds/hopes to a larger audience. However, there’s a real trick in rendering place – connecting the “external landscape†of the world to the “internal landscape†of you or your characters. In this workshop, we’ll be brainstorming and starting an essay or short story, looking at a few short examples of what contemporary nature writers are doing, and discussing how and where to publish your work. Appropriate for short stories, novels, memoir, nonfiction, and poetry. All levels.
Class is limited to 15.
Come to one or both of Laura’s classes and stay for the reading! Laura Pritchett will be reading from her new novel (which is quite sexy, but not a romance novel!) The Blue Hour at Maria’s at 5 pm on July 16. She’ll also be reading from her nonfiction book, Great Colorado Bear Stories. We invite you to make a day of writing and reading about love, nature, bears, and our Colorado.
