Meeting the Needs of Seniors, Providers and Caregivers Conference

La Plata County Senior Services, Mercy Regional Medical Center, Alpine Hospice and the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work are presenting a free full day workshop: Community Challenge – Meeting the Needs of Seniors, Providers and Caregivers on Wednesday, March 28th, 2012 from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Extension Building. Seniors, their families and caregivers and the agencies that serve them are encouraged to attend. Topics include: Transitions in Aging; Advance Directives- New Updates; Dementia, Alzheimer’s and Cognitive Functioning; End of Life Issues; Palliative Care; Management for Caregivers; Community Resources for Seniors, Their Families and Caregivers. Each participant will receive booklets with information on over 15 areas of concerns for seniors and local resources. Call 382-6444 to register. Lunch is available at the Senior Center for $4 if over 60, $7 if under. RSVP by March 21. You may also register at caregiverdurango2012@gmail.com.
Local agencies serving seniors will provide information about their programs through a resource fair at the Senior Center from 9:00- 3:00 on March 28th. Booths still available ($35) and the public is welcome (event is Free). Call 382-6442 to register a booth for the Resource Fair.
