DESCRIPTION
Let's explore it! José de Dios Mata, a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science healing, has no doubt that understanding God as divine Love can have a powerful impact on the health of bodies, relationships and communities.

Mata will present a lecture on the subject 'Divine Love: the answer to universal health,' April 20, 7pm, Durango Public Library. In his talk, Mata explores the Biblical basis of knowing God as divine Love, whose law Christ Jesus taught and practiced in his healing ministry. Mata emphasizes the relevance of Jesus' command to 'love your neighbor as yourself,' and the worldwide healing impact this can have.

Mata also points to the tireless work of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science, to understand and practice the laws of Love by which Jesus healed. Wanting more people to have access to this discovery, Eddy then wrote a textbook explaining this approach to healing, called Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

Mata first heard of Christian Science and its spiritual approach to healing during a very difficult personal time in his adult life: due to a congenital abnormality, his hearing had almost completely disappeared. The physicians recommended surgery, but Mata was reluctant to pursue that course of action. An acquaintance, who was also a doctor, told him about Christian Science and Eddy’s book. As Mata read and prayed with the deep spiritual concepts in Science and Health, he found his hearing completely restored. This began a life of practicing the spiritual understanding he’d found, leading him to heal others as well.

In addition to his spiritual healing practice, José de Dios Mata speaks internationally on the subject as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. He and his wife live part of the year in Badajoz, Spain and the other in Elsah, IL, near St. Louis.
