Ray Pierotti, working with La Plata Electric Association (LPEA), spearheaded the planning and implementation of upgrading thousands of street lights in the City of Durango and surrounding areas to LED. In addition to protecting our dark skies from light pollution, the project reduced electricity usage by nearly two million kilowatt-hours each year, saving almost $200,000 annually.
