Come Kick-Off the Trail Season!

Trails 2000 hosts 2019 Trails and Ales Party on Earth Day to kick off trail season Trails and Ales Party. Trails 2000 is pleased to announce their annual spring membership event to kick off the 2019 trail season: the Trails and Ales Party, on Monday, April 22, at Carver Brewing Company. The event, hosted on the annual recognition of Earth Day, invites all trail and outdoor enthusiasts to attend this lively community event and learn more about how to get involved with Trails 2000 and give back to the trails in and around Durango.

“As we kick off our 2019 season, we are more excited than ever to join with our community on Earth Day in celebrating our trails. The Trails 2000 Trails and Ales Party is a great time to come out and give back. We believe ‘Great Trails Build Great Communities, and Great Communities Builds Great Trails,’ and this is a key event that strengthens both elements,” said Mary Monroe Brown, CEO of Trails 2000.

The annual party takes place from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Carvers’ back patio and features live music by Space Between Shadows, a delicious spread of chili and salad, and a beer, glass of wine or root beer from Carvers to anyone who joins, renews or gives to Trails 2000. At the event, attendees will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with trail enthusiasts and Trails 2000 members, staff and board. Information about Trails 2000’s volunteer trailwork and other ways to get involved will be available.

“As we know, the Durango community is known for loving their trails, and we invite everyone—new, renewing and current members, or those simply interested in donating—to stop in at Carvers to come together as a community to talk trails, share stories, and give back in support of our trails,” said Monroe Brown.

Durangoans consistently vote trails as their number one want and need in surveys on open space, with over 89 percent consensus in a recent poll. With over 300 miles of trails within 30 minutes of downtown, Durango is a trail mecca and all trails are built and maintained through the work of Trails 2000 and their partnership with volunteers and the City, County, Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and private landowners. Each season, Trails 2000 contributes over 3,500 hours of trailwork on these lands.

”This season, we hope to continue to bridge the gap between the tens of thousands of folks who use the trails annually and those who give back and support our trails,” said Monroe Brown. Proceeds from the Trails and Ales Party directly support Trails 2000’s mission to plan, build and maintain Durango’s trail network, educate trail users, and encourage connectivity on road, path, and trail.
