Durango Botanical Society invites you to attend our 8th Gardens on Tour, to be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019, from 9a.m. to 3p.m.
Remembering last summer’s 416 Fire, this year’s theme is “Kick Ash Gardens”. We will be celebrating garden emergence from the ashes and honoring the courageous men and women who kept the flames from destroying Durango. DBS will be donating 10% of all profits to Durango Fire Protection District.
The tour starts at the Durango Public Library in the Durango Botanic Gardens with a tour of our newly installed Miniature Tree Garden and the work-in-progress, Tree Arboretum. From there, the tour will continue to seven private gardens located around the Durango area, from County Road 250 to Edgemont Ranch. Everything from a large ranch property and orchard garden to a small xeriscape garden planted with Plant Select® plants, as well as in-town landscaping.
On hand in several of the gardens will be local firefighters, allowing the public to say thank you and to answer fire related questions. Live music, by local musicians and art drawn from life by Plein Air artists can be enjoyed in various gardens. Some of the artists will have their art for sale.
Tickets are $25.00 for Non-members and $20.00 for DBS members. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.durangobotanicalsociety.com or, on June 22, at the Arboreta located at the Durango Public Library from 9 a.m. to noon. Pre-purchased tickets and the tour booklet will be available for pick up at the Arboreta.
We hope to see you out on June 22, enjoying the vision and expertise of local gardeners and to meet some of our valiant firefighters.
