John Wesley Powell: Scientist, Poet & Botched Politician

On the 150th anniversary of John Wesley Powell’s first Colorado River run, the Honorable Judge Gregory Hobbs will revisit Powell's journeys into the Colorado River Plateau, and his genius as a first-hand leading spokesperson of the western experience.
Gregory J. Hobbs, Jr., is a former Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court and is the Distinguished Jurist in Residence and Co-Director of the Environmental and Natural Resources Law Program at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. A leading expert on Colorado water law he is currently serving as a Senior Water Judge for the Colorado Courts and is assigned to the mediation of water cases.
This will be a free event open to the public; Friday, September 20th at 5:30 pm in the Student Union Ballroom on the campus of Fort Lewis College.
