Are you looking for a fun summer trip for an outdoorsy teenager? Join San Juan Mountains Association on a backpacking trip for ages 13 to 17 on August 7-9, 2019.
Teens will learn valuable backcountry skills as well lessons on fly-fishing and fire ecology. We will travel down through the Burro Burn area to a splendid river valley. This trip is designed for all ability levels but participants will need to carry most of their own supplies. There will be side hikes, ecology lessons, and time to splash in the creek. Your guide, MK Gunn, offers 12 years of guiding experience and is a Certified Interpretive Guide. Clay Kampf, fisheries biologist for the San Juan National Forest, will also be with us. Some free rental equipment is available. A mandatory planning meeting will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 the evening of Aug 5. There is a suggested donation of $75 per participant. For more information call MK at 970-385-1269 or email MK@sjma.org.
