A clash of wills disrupts the friendship between two friends, both writers, (born in the Boomer Generation,) when a young journalist visits them in Martha’s Vineyard and insinuates himself into their lives. K.C. is the daughter of a famous black-listed writer from the McCarthy era. She’s had one major novel and never another. The fear of turning into her father and never writing again haunts her. Her friend and helpmate, Jewel, also boasts a stunning first novel, but she’s buried her literary ambition after subsequent failures and discouragement. The tragic epitaph of literary great, Zora Neale Hurston, hovers over her. Both women have managed to keep their desire for success and recognition in denial. But unexpected literary success tests their relationship and shifts everything in their lives.
