DESCRIPTION
3rd Ave. Arts presents the 15th annual St. Mark's Recital Series. The season opens with a cross-channel musical excursion featuring Baroque music on period instruments. This concert focuses on works written for Louis XIV in France and Charles II in England and includes music written by composers active at their courts. Among these are the English composers Matthew Locke and Daniel Purcell as well as the French court musicians Marin Marais and Jacques Morel. The ensemble -- Jeffrey Noonan on theorbo, lute and baroque guitar; Sarah Biber on viola da gamba; and Brandon Christensen on Baroque violin -- performs on historical instruments, offering graceful dances, quirky character pieces and virtuosic variations from the 17th century.
