There is always something magical about night photography, even more so with a live steam locomotive! Seeing and photographing the nightly operations of an active roundhouse and the use of a turntable at night is a rare opportunity! You will have the opportunity to capture the evening routine of loading the tender with coal, filling the sand dome from the sand tower, emptying the ash pan, and turning on the turn table. Night shoots are limited to 25 people per night.

Our Night Yard shoots are scheduled for Friday September 20 and Saturday September 21 from 7:30PM-10:00PM. You must have booked a seat on one of the Fall Photographer Trains to participate in the Night Photography Sessions. If there are any spaces available 24 hours before the night session, they will go up for sale to the general public. Professional lighting will be provided and scenes arranged to create unique ways to illuminate the equipment and workers of the narrow gauge railroad. We'll meet at the Durango Depot at 7:30PM and after a brief orientation, all participants will receive an ID badge. We will start around 8:00PM and continue shooting until about 10:00PM.
