This free demonstration covers several techniques to join together two pieces of metal using silver or copper solder. Soldering is a basic skill for jewelers and other metal artists.

The techniques we will cover include pallion, pick, stick and sweat soldering. We will also review flux, anti-flux, pickle, block, torch, tank and setup options.

The purpose of this workshop is to help beginners and new members overcome common misunderstandings (and anxieties!) regarding how to safely wield a lit torch. Soldering is not rocket science nor is it any more dangerous than cooking on a gas stove top. But just like cooking, it has its own safety rules.

Everyone who wishes to try one of the soldering techniques will have the opportunity to do so. Metal and solder will be provided.
