Senior Center to host Alzheimer's & dementia educational event. The Durango-La Plata County Senior Center will host "Effective Communication Strategies," an educational event presented by the Colorado Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, starting at 12:45.

Attendees will learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.
