DESCRIPTION
The San Juan Basin Archaeological Society invites the public to a presentation in the Lyceum at the Center of Southwest Studies and on Zoom.

At 6:30 we will have social time, then after a brief business meeting, Kelsey E. Hanson will dis-cuss, "Creating Color in the Chaco World: Spatial Histories of Paint Production at Pueblo Bonito". For log-in information, go to SJBAS.ORG.

Kelsey E. Hanson is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Anthropology, University of Arizona, and the 2022-2023 Lister Fellow at the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center where she specializes in the archaeology of the U.S. Southwest. In her current work, Kelsey is particularly interested in how specialized knowledge is cultivated and circulated in communities and how this is encoded in material culture. Drawing from anthropological archaeology, Indigenous philosophy, and conservation science, Hanson's dissertation research problematizes paint tech-nology to understand the circulation of specialized knowledge in the rise and fall of the Chaco World of northern New Mexico (A.D. 850-1300).
