DESCRIPTION
Durango's historic Rochester Hotel will host “The Traveling Suitcase Review,”an art exhibition and reception of new artworks by the internationally artist and longtime Santa Fe painter, Shelley Horton-Trippe. "The Traveling Suitcase Revue", a survey of new paintings, small-scale installations and assemblages will open with a festive reception with music and cocktails on Friday, August 5 from 5-7 pm at the Rochester Hotel, 726 E 2nd Avenue, Durango, CO. The new artwork is inspired by FOLKyTONK'S experiences in a 1962 Airstream, camping and performing in national parks and serendipidus moments and historic events in famous hotels around the world. Horton-Trippe will be exhibiting a series of "suitcase-size" paintings fit for the well-seasoned traveler to stick in their suitcase. She will be exhibiting the paintings in the Rochester's collection of vintage suitcases. Some of the new paintings are inspired by Hollywood films shot in Durango and documented in Fredick B. Wildfang's catalog "Hollywood in the Rockies". Later in the month in conjuction with “The Traveling Suitcase,” Wildfang will host a booksigning and storytelling. FOLKyTONK, the duet of Horton-Trippe and her partner, Scott Ardis will give a concert in the Rochester Hotel's courtyard.
