Earthen Vessel Gallery invites the public to an artist talk featuring local fine artist, Joe Schafer, and curator and arts professional, Bekah Kolbe, who will be interviewing Schafer about his process in the creation of his Southwestern landscapes as well as his unique journey to becoming a fine artist.
As a self-taught artist, Joe flexes into the skills that he learned in the trades, often incorporating unconventional techniques and mediums like stains, dyes, and solvent-based paints. Inspired by the vastness and elegance of the wild landscapes in his own backyard of Southwest Colorado, Joe utilizes the elements to create the rich and unique textures that are signature to his paintings.
The artist talk starts at 5:30pm and is followed by a short Q&A with the attendees. It takes place during the Gallery Walk, and in addition to the program, Earthen Vessel's featured artist is Maureen May, another local fine artist who will be showcasing all new monotype prints.
