The San Juan Symphony is delighted to invite audiences of all ages to the 2023 Fall Semester Concert of the San Juan Symphony Youth Orchestra and Junior Orchestras. These wonderful students have been rehearsing all semester in preparation for their highly anticipated event!
The upcoming Fall Semester Concert features many beloved works for full orchestra. The Junior Orchestra gets things started with Rossini's upbeat overture to "The Barber of Seville," along with several other works that showcase the emerging talents of these young musicians. After a short break, Sayra Siverson and the Youth Orchestra explore the depths of Beethoven's "Egmont Overture," a dark and brooding work that culminates in the kind of pure musical triumph that only Beethoven can muster. The concert also features "Wondrous," a new concert piece from 2014 by Texas-based composer Karel Butz, meant to capture "the grandeur of a celebratory occasion and the vibrancy of young performers." Rounding out the program will be the brilliant and striking symphonic poem "Finlandia" by iconic Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.
