DESCRIPTION
The Durango Botanic Gardens is thrilled to bring to Durango one of the top plant "hunters" of the world. Bill McNamara is executive director of the Quarryhill Botanic Garden, a 25-acre wild woodland garden in Northern California's Sonoma Valley featuring wild-sourced plants from temperate East Asia. Mr. McNamara will share interesting stories about his 31 years of plant hunting and expeditions through Asia and other parts of the world.
Mr. McNamara will show and discuss some of the most rarely seen plants - plants often threatened by extinction - from his extensive travels. He sees an urgent role being played by botanic gardens in addressing the severe, yet little-mentioned plant extinction crisis.
This is a Member Appreciate Event. FREE to Durango Botanic Garden Members and $20 for non-members.
