Join SJMA and educators from Canyons of the Ancients National Monument for a special hike through the moonlit Sand Canyon while learning about how the moon impacts wildlife and humans alike. This trail is usually closed after sunset, so this is a rare chance to see it under a different light. From sunset to moonrise, hikers will visit several ancient pueblos and discover the wildlife that calls this special place home.
The hike is moderate, 1-2 miles. Wear walking shoes and clothing layers suitable for the evening weather, bring a backpack with your water, snacks, camera, and binoculars. Bring hiking poles if you like using them. Don't forget your headlamp or flashlight!
