In this two-evening class, students will take a deep dive into one of the most iconic and beautiful metal art forms: cloisonne enamel.
Enamel involves melting colorful glass powders onto a base plate. Cloisonne is a more advanced technique where metal strips are added to separate colors and create elaborate designs. Cloisonne is not difficult and a beginner can produce beautiful results.
On Sunday Aug 17, from 6 to 9 pm, you will make an abstract piece as you explore the materials and techniques. On Monday Aug 18 from 6 to 9 pm, you will use the same skills to make a second piece of your own design.
We will use a torch (rather than a kiln) to observe how the glass changes under fire. This is a beginner class - no prior metal or torch skills are needed to participate.
The fee is $160 and includes all supplies, including a metal bezel cup to set your finished project.
