Forest Health Stewardship Day

Thu, July 17, 2025
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

DESCRIPTION
Participants will explore the impacts of the 416 Fire and discover how wildfires affect not only our forests, but also our watersheds and surrounding ecosystems. Through a combination of interactive activities, you'll gain insights into fire ecology, watershed health, and post-fire restoration efforts.

Seed Cookie Making – Participants will make native seed cookies (small, biodegradable seed balls) to help spread native seeds and support re-vegetation.

Fire Ecology Lesson – Dive into a lesson on how wildfires shape Colorado’s forests, the science behind fire monitoring, how controlled burns and natural fires can support long-term forest health, and what happens if we suppress fires for too long.

Games and Activities for All Ages – Play games like ‘fire in the forest’, ‘get to know a tree’, and ‘matchstick forest'.
