DESCRIPTION
Celebrate the launch of the City of Durango Native American Heritage Month with an inspiring evening of art, food, and family-friendly fun. Be among the first to view the official November calendar of events!

Kick off the evening with a guided tour of From the Fringes: Diné Textiles that Disrupt, a powerful exhibition exploring the legacy of Diné (Navajo) weaving - from historic pieces to bold, contemporary works that challenge norms and honor cultural resilience, led by a Southwest Studies Fellow.

Enjoy creative, hands-on youth activities inspired by Diné weaving, and sample Indigenous cuisine served by the Big Picture Native American Club, featuring dishes from New Native Kitchen by Freddie Bitsoie, former executive chef at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian.

Free & open to the public · All ages welcome
Presented by the Center of Southwest Studies · Visit Durango · NAPAC Programming runs through November 15, 2025
