This in-person, HOA Homeowner Education event will empower local property owners to learn more about what a quality community association (HOA, POA, etc.) looks like.
Topics will include:
The definition and primary purpose of a community association
The roles and responsibilities of Board members, homeowners, and management company
How to evaluate an Association's health through three lenses:
Governance, Financial, and Maintenance
Strengthening community engagement and holding effective meetings
Other helpful tools and tricks for the HOA world
Homeowners from any community association, near or far, are welcome! We anticipate a fun and engaging conversation.
This event will be hosted by Alex Whittow, CMCA, of Reliance Management LLC. As a Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA®), Alex (he/him) brings industry knowledge and operational expertise to the leadership teams he works with. Alex lives in Durango, has accumulated over 7 years of experience managing his own portfolio of properties, and prides himself on running an ethical organization that prioritizes quality over quantity and transparency above all.
Further, Alex actively contributes as an active Board member of his own HOA today. He has served multiple terms as a Board member, understands the challenges of volunteerism, and advocates for sensible management in his own community.
