DESCRIPTION
La Plata County Public Health Department Director Theresa Anselmo presents: Public Health in Action: What It Means for La Plata County. Public health touches daily life in ways that often go unseen—from safe food and clean water to vaccines, family support programs, and disease prevention. In La Plata County, these services are essential to keeping our community healthy, especially across a large, rural region where access to care can be challenging. This session highlights the work of La Plata County Public Health Department, the key health issues facing our community—from behavioral health to wildfire smoke and emerging diseases—and practical steps we can all take to support our own health and the well-being of our neighbors and our community. As Public Health Director, Ms. Anselmo leads efforts to strengthen public health systems, advance policy, and build community partnerships to improve health outcomes in our rural setting. She brings more than 20 years of experience in public health and over 30 years in the dental field, with a career spanning local, state, nonprofit, and private sectors. Her work has focused on advancing policy, addressing health in-equities, and leading collaborative efforts to improve access to care and community health. Visitors welcome. Free.
