DESCRIPTION
The Mountain and Valley Fiber Arts Festival is a destination fiber festival where people come to learn, shop, gather, and experience the warmth, texture, and creative culture of the Southwest. The Mountain and Valley Wool Association (MAVWA) is celebrating their 43rd year hosting the annual Mountain and Valley Fiber Arts Festival (formerly the Taos Wool Festival). An outstanding regional fiber arts market with juried vendors displaying their own products made from a variety of natural fiber and adding their artistic creation. Yarn, roving, raw fleece, and tools are also available. The festival offers a balance of education, artistry, and community. Demonstrations of sheep shearing, dyeing, spinning, and other fiber crafts, with the added ambience of live music and hands on learning. Meet our fiber producing animals, including llamas, yaks, sheep, and alpacas, to learn firsthand how the fleece they grow turns into the clothing you wear.

Join us for a fiber festival that is not just another marketplace, but a gathering shaped by landscapes, natural fiber culture and creative community, held on October 3 and 4, 2026 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds and Event Center in Durango, Colorado. Visit our website for workshops beginning on October 2 through October 4.

MAVWA is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization open to all. Its mission is to promote fiber from all fiber bearing animals, as well as other natural fibers and to pass on the rich history of fiber-related crafts to the next generation of fiber enthusiasts.
